Integrated Farming Systems
Organising farming community, building capacity on the concept of IFS, arranging for farm inputs jointly, and facilitating implementation and follow-up. IFS will ensure drought proofing and protect farmers from climate vagaries.
A total of 500 farmers have been covered in Dharwad district. Together planted 20,000 horticulture plants, 50,000 forestry plants, 1 gunta each for fodder development, 5 crore liters of water have been harvested through farm ponds. The farmers shifted from mono-culture to diversified cropping pattern to sustain their livelihood. Soil and water conservation has been done in minimum 300 acres of land.
